This too often is the kind of email I receive. This is the first one about a toilet seat. This lady is describing a highly contagious skin parasite. I don’t believe the parasite was transmitted by the water on the seat but rather by the seat itself. Whenever someone affected by this type of parasite comes in contact with a surface for more than a few moments that surface becomes infected. The surface could be a chair, sofa, bed, car seat, or in this case a toilet seat.

The next warm blooded animal (in this case a human) that comes in contact with that surface becomes infected.

What is this parasite? Generally this could be one of two different parasites.

Most typically it would be collembola (also know as spring tails). There are six thousand species of spring tails (a microscopic organism that feeds on decaying matter). Generally they are found outdoors and are an important organism to get rid of decaying matter such as dead leaves and grass and as such are not usually found on living organisms.

Unfortunately there is at least one specie that has developed a taste for humans. The problem is that there are no diagnostic tests available for someone infected and there is no known medical treatment. Only a very limited number of doctors know of their existence.

This parasite can also be transmitted from one infected animal such as a cat, dog, rodent, bird, human and so on to another animal.

The other parasite that can be transmitted this way is Strongyloides stercoralis. It’s a nematode (small worm) that is generally transmitted by fecal matter. But because the cycle of the parasite moves from internal to the skin of the affected animal, it can also be transmitted from touch of one animal to another just as with the collembola.

It can also be transmitted by an infected surface such as a toilet seat.

Over the years I’ve heard of these parasites being transmitted by bed bugs, rat or mice mites, bird mites and one person claimed to simply be infected by sitting across from an infected person who was emitting spit as he talked.

Getting rid of the parasites can be a challenge as they quickly infest one’s living quarters–bedding, furniture, autos, garages, walkways and so on. If you don’t get rid of them, they can ruin your life professionally, socially and romantically.

Yet there is hope. First it’s important to disinfect the environment and use bathing protocols to keep from being reinfected from external sources. But that does not keep the parasites from breeding on or in the host (the infected human).

The next step is to observe that certain foods seem to contribute to the formation of yeast in the body and on the skin. Although we have no proof, but it seems that yeast is food for the parasites.

The goal is to figure out which foods feed the parasites and which foods starve the parasites. The news is that diet has been discovered. Although it is a low glycemic
anti yeast diet, it follows no particular theory. For instance, while rosemary and anisette may be acceptable on anti candida diets, both would activate these parasites.

Infection, tumor, metabolic or hormonal disorders (such as cystic fibrosis or diabetes), cardiac problems, kidney disease, genetic disorders, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection are other medical reasons for Failure To Thrive.

When The Issues Are Based In Responses To Intolerances

Often an infant’s or a baby’s Non Organic Failure To Thrive is caused by the infant’s body responding to normal things in the environment as if those normal things were toxic. This is a sensitivity to some things in the environment which the child’s body thinks are toxic.

This response to this “toxic attack” could involve shutting down the child’s normal developmental process as a temporary protective tactic until the “toxic attack” goes away. And, because these things in the environment are not toxic to others, the family and the medical professionals do not know to eliminate these “toxic” things from the child’s environment. In this case this temporary protective defensive reaction continues without stopping. This means that the child’s own defenses suspends the child’s normal developmental process indefinitely, because of the child’s intolerances and sensitivities.

Diagnosis For The Causes In Medical Disorders And Socio-Environmental Issues

Doctors diagnose Failure To Thrive when a child’s weight or physical development is much lower than what it should be when compared with past measurements or standard age-height-weight charts. If the physical development is adequate, the child may be small for his or her age but still growing normally.

To find out why a child may be failing to thrive normally, doctors ask the parents specific questions about feeding, bowel habits, social, emotional, and financial stability of the family, which might affect the child’s access to nutrition, and illnesses that the child has had or that run in the family. The doctor examines the child, looking for signals which could explain the child’s delay in development. The doctor makes decisions about blood and urine tests and x-rays based on this evaluation. More examinations are performed only if the doctor suspects an underlying disease.

* Order plenty of vegetables. Get a large mixed salad, or order vegetables sauted in a bit of olive oil or steamed with sauce on the side (so you can lightly dip them in the sauce).
* Sip some broth. Soup is a good high-volume food that will fill you up. Look for vegetable, broth-based, and bean soups. Avoid cream-based soups and chowders.

Don’t let down your guard down after youve ordered your meal, youl still need to exercise some caution once the meal arrives.

A gluten-free, casein-free diet, known as GFCF, has become very popular among parents of autistic children. Some members of the medical community continue to be skeptical of it, but other doctors and organizations — including those working with Defeat Autism Now (DAN) — wholeheartedly support the GFCF diet.

Many parents report remarkable improvements in their autistic children after removing gluten and casein from their diets. They find their children having longer attention spans, making better eye contact and in general behaving less aggressively and more normally.

The difficult part is implementing the diet. Cereals and dairy products comprise a major part of the typical American diet. People with gluten allergies already know how hard it is to find gluten-free products; adding dairy to the list of prohibited items makes it that much more inconvenient.

In addition, many autistic children will latch on to particular foods they like and refuse to eat anything else. Since so many foods have gluten or casein, chances are good that something on your child’s favorites list will be an offender. Also, because gluten and casein foods act as opiates, autistic children may crave them in particular — the very foods that are doing them the most harm!

So weaning your child off these foods can be difficult. To start with, many parents find it best to eliminate dairy. A lot of people are lactose-intolerant, after all, and dairy products don’t make up nearly as big a part of most people’s diets as gluten products do. It’s fairly easy to replace casein foods with other things.

Gluten is trickier. Not only is it in a lot of foods, but even foods that don’t have it are often contaminated with it, due to having been processed in the same facilities. You’ll need to examine ingredients lists carefully, and check with the manufacturer directly if you’re in doubt.

Often, parents say their autistic children won’t eat anything else, and they worry they’ll go hungry if these foods are taken away. It is necessary to be loving but firm, and not to give in if your child behaves badly in response to having his or her favorite foods taken off the menu. Within a few weeks, you’ll probably see a change in your child’s behavior, and you may be surprised at what he or she will eat that previously was unacceptable.

In Dr Chez’s study sixteen percent of cases saw improvements in their communication and behavior, and twenty seven percent had better socialization.

More research is required on the impacts of supplementing with L-carnosine.

Digestion appears to be easier and more effective on this diet as well, as the number of cases of diarrhea and loose stools are decreased. Increased eye contact, better focus and overall disposition have also been reported alongside reductions in tantrums, self-stimulatory and aggressive behaviors.

Currently underway is a long-term double-blind study that is looking at the impacts on autistic behavior when following a GFCF diet the results are due out in 2008.

The diet that is being used to help control some of the symptoms of Tourettes is the Gluten-Free, Casein-Free or GFCF diet. This is certainly not the first diet to attempt to control the symptoms of Tourettes; the other major diet that has attempted this is called the Feingold diet. The GFCF diet removes milk and wheat from the food consumed, while the Feingold diet removes artificial colors, flavors and some of the preservatives found in foods.

Typically, the idea of the GFCF diets is not a treatment that is generally recommended by neurologists or pediatricians. Most doctors prefer to treat disorders and illnesses using more researched methods instead. There are many different diets that have been proven to provide benefits to those suffering from disorders and complications. It is refreshing to some who seek relief in any form they can find it.

Many parents are confused as to exactly what a diet has to do with the signs and symptoms of disorders, specifically behavioral disorders. Typically, the answers lie in the fact that it is generally sensitivity to the particular food that triggers the behavior. A better example that most people can understand is an allergy to fish, or even nuts. Many people exhibit significant allergic reactions to these foods up to the point where death is even possible for some.

While death is never a common symptom it is something that can easily exhibit the severity that food allergies can truly reach. This is the same example with dairy and wheat products in relation to Tourettes. It is suspected that an allergy to these foods produces a chemical reaction that causes a chemical to be released that the brain reads as a neurotransmitter and causes the presence of the tics associated with Tourettes.

It is suspected that the deficiencies in these nutrients is also a factor affecting the symptoms that are experienced by those with Tourettes who see an improvement in their symptoms after beginning a diet such as the GFCF.

Experts who suggest the diet methods suggest slowly eliminating foods from the diet one at a time, so that you can accurately pinpoint the food that triggers the symptoms to spike. They suggest omitting the food from the diet for 4-7 days per food item, and very carefully monitoring the behavior changes that occur due to the food being removed. Some experts suggest replacing the food after you think you have found the trigger food so that you can see if you achieve the same results more than once. This is a good way to check the results.

One suggestion for those attempting to diagnose the food sensitivity themselves is to think back to early childhood days. If when your child was younger, they suffered sensitivities or allergies to specific foods then, it is recommended to cut those foods from the diet first since they may be the culprit of the problems now. This is not always effective, and does need to be done on a trial and error basis until the true food culprit is discovered. However, it should be noted, that no matter how much trial and error you do, you may not discover the food that causes your symptoms.

Not everyone who attempts the GFCF diet has success; however, it seems to be a very successful method that is perfectly natural. It is also a treatment method that does not involve heavy involvement from a doctor, which can mean medical bills are reduced. Home remedies for Asthma

Use a cup of honey and fenugreek decoction with 1 tablespoon fresh ginger in liquid form

Mix 1 teaspoon honey, 1/4 cup of onion juice and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper.

Prepare a mixture of 1/3 glass of spinach juice with 2/3 glass of carrot juice. Drink a glass of this juice three times a day.
Mix 1 teaspoon in very warm water and drink slowly before going to bed to reduce phlegm from throat.

Prepare a mixture of little camphor with mustard oil and rub it on chest. This will help to reduce phlegm and aid in breathing.

Boil cup of milk with 8-10 cloves of garlic and drink it before sleeping.

Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 5 grams of gooseberry (amla).

Boil the mixture of 2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds in a glass of water till 1/3 part of the mixture remains. Allow to cool and then drink

In a glass of buttermilk, mix a teaspoon of bishop’s weed and use it two times everyday.

Make a paste of 50 gm banyan root, 125 gm honey and 250 gm Indian gooseberry. Eat 1 tsp paste.

Use three to four dry figs daily in the morning. This is helpful for a sudden asthma attack

Cook a ripe banana on a slow fire. Pulp it and add some black paper on it. This will give you immediate relief from asthma.

Make a paste of mustard oil (or ghee) and rock salt. Massage this paste on chest, it will help to stop asthma attack.

Add a teaspoon turmeric powder in a glass of warm milk.

Mix 1 tablespoon honey in 1 tablespoon safflower seeds. Consume this once a day.

In a glass of lime juice add 1 teaspoon ginger juice.

Grind radish lemon juice and honey together. Merge for 20 minutes and cook it in pan on slow fire. Use 1 teaspoon daily in the morning.

Chew fennel regularly. It will help in the effect of chest tightness and prevents asthma attack.

Boil 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of pure honey, half a cup of milk and little garlic clove. Sip this liquid daily. It is very effective remedy.

Use turmeric with honey in the morning on empty stomach to help alleviate asthma.

Sprinkle some tulsi leaves with black salt and put it in your month when you feel the onset of an asthma attack

Here is some asthma related advice:

1. Stay as stress free as possible
2. Do exercise related breathing
3. Avoid smoking and remove any known allergens
4. Avoid eating dairy products (including cheeses)
5. Avoid the use of air fresheners, deodorants, perfumes and aftershaves
6. Always use an air purifier in your home
7. Never lie down at the time of attack of asthma. Sit up straight or turn forward
8. Keep your bedroom free from allergens
9. Avoid eating foods high in sugar

Homemade mayonnaise: quarter cup

Celery, chopped: 1 cup
Lime juice: 2 teaspoons
Black pepper powder: A pinch

Method:

In a large mixing bowl, add the cooked chicken, diced apple, chopped walnuts and celery and mix them together. To make the dressing, in a smaller bowl, mix the mayonnaise, honey and lime juice thoroughly. Add the pepper powder to the dressing, for taste. With a spoon, pour the dressing over the chicken salad and toss it well, till all the ingredients are coated.

When making stone-age or Paleolithic recipes, it is important to ensure that the ingredients used are free of grains, legumes, salt, dairy, vinegar, fermented food, foods that contain yeast, processed sugar, soy products and starchy roots.

    Let’s look at foods that affect the acid/alkaline balance and how PH relates to yeast in the body.

    Children can benefit a great deal from a yeast free diet. I know when I was young and growing up, as my immune system developed, I frequently visited the doctors.     Genitourinary Symptoms
    Frequent episodes of bladder infection, urinary urgency and frequency, burning on urination, frequent episodes of vaginitis, vaginal discharge or itching.

    Management of Yeast Overgrowth

Minor is a wild yeast that is found on fruits, especially grapes, and grains, and is used for making sourdough bread.
