Let’s look at foods that affect the acid/alkaline balance and how PH relates to yeast in the body.

Many of the foods that we eat, fast foods, sugary foods, coffee, soda, are all acid forming foods which cause our bodies to be more acidic, which is the perfect environment for candida to exist and thrive. The average American diet contains 80 percent acid-forming foods and 20 percent alkaline-forming foods, with an overall pH level of between 5.0 and 6.5. This is far too acidic and creates a great environment for the Candida yeast.

A slight alkaline state, on the other hand,  is beneficial for immune function and growth of beneficial bacteria. It is very important for Candidia sufferers to keep their bodies slightly alkaline.

As a general guide, when following the yeast free diet, increasing green leafy vegetables and keeping animal proteins in moderation will help balance body PH naturally.
